The contractors delegation of Jammu province was led by its president Rakesh Jalali and that of Kashmir province by its president Abdul Salam. Both the heads of the organizations stressed upon the authorities to release their pending dues worth crores without any more delay. They pointed out that some payments are pending for the last 7 to 8 years now. It has badly hit their business, they maintained. The MD gave a patient hearing and further promised the delegation that their small chunk of payments shall be released during January, 2021. However, to the nomination work payments , the MD was non-committal. The joint delegation apprised the MD that the piece workers of the Corporation have executed several works of JKPCC across J&K, against which the Corporation has received funds from their project authorities for the works already executed by the piece workers. They pointed out that their livelihood has been badly hit with the non-payments and contract work has also come to halt. About 2000 piece workers of the JKPCC are badly suffering. The Non-payments worth crores to the contractors and these hapless workers have made life of these people miserable. They sought intervention of the higher authorities into the matter. Inviting composite tenders and executing works through e-tenders has hit the livelihood of these workers as well. |
