SRINAGAR, Dec 24: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 291 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases of the virus reached 1, 19,344. The death toll due to the virus reached 1860 as seven deaths were reported in past 24 hours. Jammu district reported 94 new cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar district 66 cases, Budgam district 22 cases, Pulwama district 18 cases, Kupwara district 12 cases, Udhampur district nine cases, Shopian, Rajouri, Kathua and Samba districts eight cases each, Baramulla district seven cases, Ramban district six cases, Ganderbal, Kulgam and Reasi districts four cases each, Anantnag, Bandipora, Kishtwar and Doda districts three cases each and Poonch district one case. Jammu district in the Jammu division reported three fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by a death each in Samba in Jammu division and Srinagar, Budgam & Anantnag districts in the Kashmir valley. So far 1,174 virus related deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley while in Jammu division 686 such deaths have taken place up to this date. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 291 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 144 from Jammu division and 147 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 19,344. Also seven COVID-19 deaths have been reported; four from Jammu division and three from Kashmir division. Moreover, 299 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 160 from Jammu division and 139 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 19,344 positive cases, 3,540 are active positive, 1, 13,944 have recovered and 1,860 have died; 686 in Jammu division and 1,174 in Kashmir division. Out of 36, 39,084 test results available, 35, 19,740 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 8, 59,500 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 17,302 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 3,540 in isolation and 28,222 in home surveillance. Besides, 8, 08,576 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 24,931 positive cases, 639 active positive, 23,848 recovered, 444 deaths; Baramulla has 7,887 positive cases, 150 active positive, 7,567 recovered, 170 deaths; Budgam has 7,493 positive cases, 188 active positive, 7,198 recovered, 107 deaths; Kupwara has 5,476 positive cases, 144 active positive, 5,242 recovered, 90 deaths; Pulwama has 5,471 positive cases, 181 active positive, 5,202 recovered, 88 deaths. “Anantnag has 4,752 positive cases, 108 active positive, 4,561 recovered, 83 deaths; Bandipora has 4,623 positive cases, 79 active positive, 4,485 recovered, 59 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,441 positive cases, 108 active positive, 4,290 recovered, 43 deaths; Kulgam has 2,650 positive cases, 70 active positive, 2,527 recovered, 53 deaths and Shopian has 2,473 positive cases, 94 active positive, 2,342 recovered, 37 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 23,243 positive cases, 851 active positive, 22,042 recovered, 350 deaths; Udhampur has 4,054 positive cases, 116 active positive, 3,881 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,805 positive cases, 219 active positive, 3,532 recovered, 54 deaths; Doda has 3,356 positive cases, 90 active positive, 3,205 recovered, 61 deaths; Kathua has 3,132 positive cases, 75 active positive, 3,009 recovered, 48 deaths. “Kishtwar has 2,714 positive cases, 56 active positive, 2,637 recovered, 21 deaths; Samba has 2,708 positive cases, 241 active positive, 2,429 recovered, 38 deaths; Poonch has 2,437 positive cases, 30 active positive, 2,385 recovered, 22 deaths; Ramban has 2,083 positive cases, 36 active positive, 2,026 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,615 positive cases, 65 active positive, 1,536 recovered, 14 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 19,344 positive cases, 11,180 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
