JAMMU, Dec 24: Hailing Kashmiri Migrant voters of Jammu, Udhampur and other areas for their participation during the polls for the vacant seats of Municipalities and Panchayats and first time District Development Council elections, Er RC Mahajan said that despite several problems being faced by the migrant voters they participated in the democratic process enthusiastically.
Expressing gratitude to the migrant voters, Mahajan said that due to pandemic of Covid 19, freezing weather conditions and despite same cumbersome process adopted in the vacant seats of municipalities and Panchayats and DDC elections of filling of intimation forms of MMPB, PMPB and DMPB they cast their vote in a time bound manner.
On the sensitive issue of migrant voting right , he said that we are appealing to the administration of Union Territory of J&K and Centre Govt for simplification of elections process in the upcoming elections, adding that the election deptt should update the migrants voter lists /electoral rolls along with issuance of EPIC to migrant voters , beside doing away with all kinds of M forms to ensure the maximum participation of migrants in the next elections by adopting once for all of large number of physical voting system of polling station at their nearest respective places , areas of Jammu , Udhampur , Delhi and other place of country to elect their representative (MLAs and MPs) in the democratic process. |
