jehangir rashid Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Jan 1: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 256 new cases of Corona Virus today following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 21,227. The death toll due to the virus reached 1,884 with one death being reported in the past 24 hours. Jammu district reported 72 new cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar district 61 cases, Pulwama district 26 cases, Budgam and Samba districts 14 cases each, Ganderbal district 11 cases, Baramulla district 10 cases, Shopian district nine cases, Udhampur district seven cases, Kupwara and Anantnag districts six cases each, Bandipora district five cases, Reasi district four cases, Kathua district three cases, Kulgam, Rajouri and Doda districts two cases each and Kishtwar & Poonch districts one case each. Poonch district in the Jammu division reported one virus related death in past 24 hours. So far 1,186 people have lost their lives to the virus in the Kashmir while in Jammu division 698 people have died due to the virus up to this date. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 256 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 106 from Jammu division and 150 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 21,227. Also one COVID-19 death has been reported from Jammu division. Moreover, 248 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 116 from Jammu division and 132 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 21,227 positive cases, 3,016 are active positive, 1, 16,327 have recovered and 1,884 have died; 698 in Jammu division and 1,186 in Kashmir division. Out of 38, 51,827 test results available, 37, 30,600 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 8, 87,840 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 14,354 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 3,016 in isolation and 30,147 in home surveillance. Besides, 8, 38,439 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 25,376 positive cases, 588 active positive, 24,338 recovered, 450 deaths; Baramulla has 7,976 positive cases, 115 active positive, 7,689 recovered, 172 deaths; Budgam has 7,618 positive cases, 146 active positive, 7,364 recovered, 108 deaths; Pulwama has 5,580 positive cases, 169 active positive, 5,323 recovered, 88 deaths; Kupwara has 5,537 positive cases, 120 active positive, 5,326 recovered, 91 deaths. "Anantnag has 4,798 positive cases, 109 active positive, 4,606 recovered, 83 deaths; Bandipora has 4,650 positive cases, 54 active positive, 4,536 recovered, 60 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,480 positive cases, 91 active positive, 4,346 recovered, 43deaths; Kulgam has 2,664 positive cases, 65 active positive, 2,546 recovered, 53 deaths and Shopian has 2,504 positive cases, 94 active positive, 2,372 recovered, 38 deaths," reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 23,868 positive cases, 851 active positive, 22,662 recovered, 355 deaths; Udhampur has 4,089 positive cases, 63 active positive, 3,969 recovered, 57deaths; Rajouri has 3,842 positive cases, 159 active positive, 3,629 recovered, 54 deaths; Doda has 3,388 positive cases, 45 active positive, 3,279 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,199 positive cases, 54 active positive, 3,096 recovered, 49 deaths. "Samba has 2,761 positive cases, 189 active positive, 2,534 recovered, 38 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,719 positive cases, 20 active positive, 2,678 recovered, 21 deaths; Poonch has 2,446 positive cases, 25 active positive, 2,397 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,104 positive cases, 28 active positive, 2,055 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,628 positive cases, 31 active positive, 1,582 recovered, 15 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 21,227 positive cases in J&K, 11,298 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
