GMC's Microbiology Deptt emerge winner in UT level Quiz Competition | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 2: The Department of Microbiology, Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu has emerged winner in the Quiz Competition on the topic "Competition on HIV/AIDS and Other Health Issues", organized under the aegis of J&K Aids Control Society. An official here on Monday said that the J&K AIDS Control Society, the body running the awareness programs about the dreaded disease of AIDS and taking care of affected persons, announced the launch of the "Competition on HIV/AIDS and Other Health Issues", an inter college, university quiz competition. The objective of the event was to spread awareness on various health issues in general and HIV/AIDS in particular, he said. The official added that the first competition of the series was held on December 28, 2020 at the District level where almost 100 students from over 50 institutes participated followed by the Divisional Level Quiz held on December 30, 2020. "The final round of the online Quiz Competition was held on January 1, 2021 at the UT level in which Dr Nazia and Dr Ruvaida the Post Graduate (MD) students of The Department of Microbiology representing the Government Medical College, Jammu emerged as the overall winners," added the official. Dr Shashi Sudan, the Principal cum Dean of the Government Medical College Jammu who also heads the Department of Microbiology congratulated both the MD students. "Both the PG students have made the Department proud and brought laurels for the institution also," she said and added that the quiz competition brings enthusiasm among the students as well as create mass awareness and thus congratulated the AIDS Control Society for their initiative. |
