PC to part ways with PAGD | | | Early Times Report jammu, Jan 2: The Peoples Conference led by Sajad Lone is unlikely to stay with the so called Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration for having got "lesser seat share but having performed better than other members of the alliance" in the recently concluded District Development Council or DDC elections. Sources said the PC leaders are of the opinion that their party performed the "best in the DDC polls due to best strike rate" and that if the PAGD doesn't give "due share and respect" to the party led by Sajad Lone, they would part ways soon. Poll analysts said the "strike rate" as shown by the PC in DDC was "highest at eighty among all the constituents of the PAGD" especially as compared to the National Conference. "The NC contested 168 seats, which is much more than the 68 seats contested by the PDP, but their strikes rates are largely similar. But PC is far ahead of others in the Gupkar alliance," said an analyst. It is pertinent to mention that the PC leadership was already not happy with the PAGD over seat sharing for the DDC. Some of the senior PC leaders were finding the behavior of the NC in particular abusive towards others in the alliance through "unfair seat distribution." Sources said the PC leadership is under pressure from its cadres that the party should demand "equal number of seats at par with the NC" for the future of the alliance during the prospective polls. "He (Sajad) is under pressure from his party cadres from north Kashmir in particular that the party should be treated as equal to the NC from now onwards," said an insider on the condition of anonymity. Sources said the PC leadership would soon hold a meeting in this regard to decide future course of action. Despite repeated attempts, the PC leaders were not available for comments. |
