SRINAGAR, Jan 3: The COVID-19 recovery rate in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 96 percent as 205 more virus affected patients recovered today. With 182 new cases the total number of positive cases reached 1, 21,653 while death toll reached 1,886 following one fresh death. Jammu district reported 75 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Srinagar district 31 cases, Budgam district 14 cases, Pulwama, Ganderbal, Doda, Kathua and Samba districts seven cases each, Anantnag district six cases, Baramulla district five cases, Kupwara district four cases, Shopian and Udhampur districts three cases each, Bandipora and Ramban districts two cases each and Rajouri & Poonch districts one case each. Samba district in the Jammu division reported one virus related death in the past 24 hours or so. So far 1,187 people have died due to the virus in Kashmir valley while in Jammu division 699 people have fallen prey to the virus up to this date. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 182 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 103 from Jammu division and 79 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 21,653. Also one COVID-19 death has been reported from Jammu division. Moreover, 205 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 95 from Jammu division and 110 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 21,653 positive cases, 2,975 are active positive, 1, 16,792 have recovered and 1,886 have died; 699 in Jammu division and 1,187 in Kashmir division. Out of 39, 16,848 test results available, 37, 95,195 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 8, 95,270 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 14,471 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 2,975 in isolation and 30,564 in home surveillance. Besides, 8, 45,374 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 25,453 positive cases, 570 active positive, 24,433 recovered, 450 deaths; Baramulla has 7,997 positive cases, 120 active positive, 7,705 recovered, 172 deaths; Budgam has 7,637 positive cases, 127 active positive, 7,401 recovered, 109 deaths; Pulwama has 5,599 positive cases, 154 active positive, 5,357 recovered, 88 deaths; Kupwara has 5,550 positive cases, 111 active positive, 5,348 recovered, 91 deaths. “Anantnag has 4,821 positive cases, 122 active positive, 4,616 recovered, 83 deaths; Bandipora has 4,656 positive cases, 54 active positive, 4542 recovered, 60 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,498 positive cases, 96 active positive, 4,359 recovered, 43 deaths; Kulgam has 2,666 positive cases, 59 active positive, 2,554 recovered, 53 deaths and Shopian has 2,388 positive cases, 106 active positive, 2378 recovered, 38 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 24,021 positive cases, 879 active positive, 22,787 recovered, 355 deaths; Udhampur has 4,095 positive cases, 51 active positive, 3,987 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,845 positive cases, 138 active positive, 3,653 recovered, 54 deaths; Doda has 3,398 positive cases, 45 active positive, 3,289 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,211 positive cases, 47 active positive, 3,115 recovered, 49 deaths. “Samba has 2,772 positive cases, 199 active positive, 2,534 recovered, 39 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,720 positive cases, 11 active positive, 2,688 recovered, 21 deaths; Poonch has 2,452 positive cases, 31 active positive, 2,397 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,112 positive cases, 24 active positive, 2,067 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,628 positive cases, 31 active positive, 1582 recovered, 15 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 21,653 positive cases in J&K, 11,325 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
