“Vested interests maligning Dharmarth Trust” | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 5: Throwing its weight behind the Dharmarth Trust, the General Zorawar Singh Charitable Memorial (GZSCM) Trust and tenants of Dharmarth Trust on Friday criticized some vested interest who tried to malign the image of centuries -old Trust. Hailing the Trust and the Royal Dogra Family for their contribution towards the welfare of people of Jammu and Kashmir, the tenants and officials of General Zorawar Singh Charitable Memorial Trust said that they stand with them. “The Dharmarth Trust was established by Maharaja Gulab Singh in 1846 with the objective of maintaining the temples and shrines of Jammu and Kashmir and preserving Dogra identity. Ever since then, the Trust has not only preserved these places of worship, but also excelled in maintaining them while retaining and in cases upgrading them to the pristine condition,” a statement issued by General Zorawar Singh Charitable Memorial Trust, here today, said. The statement said that ongoing protests by some of the employees of the Trust are fuelled by some vested interest who are misguiding the employees of the Trust to malign the image of the trust. “Some people who have their own vested interests have been attempting to malign the image of the Dharmarth Trust in the public sphere. The employees must not get instigated by such disgruntled elements who for their vested interests are trying to bring a bad name to the Trust,” the statement said. Recounting the contribution of the Royal Dogra Family over the generations, the statement said that the tenants and officials of General Zorawar Singh Charitable Memorial Trust stand with them strongly as ever. “Over the generations and continuing till this day, the Royal Dogra Family has contributed immensely towards the welfare and uplifting of the people of Jammu and Kashmir since centuries. We, the tenants and officials of General Zorawar Singh Charitable Memorial Trust stand with them strongly as ever,” said the statement. It asked the protesting employees not to get instigated by at least those who are ex-employee of J&K Dharmarth Trust and resume their duties as soon as possible so as to work shoulder with shoulder for the upkeep of the rich culture and heritage of J&K, as maintained by the Dharmarth Trust and the royal Dogra family since centuries. “Steps taken by Ajay Gandotra, President of the Trust for having offered unconditional talk over table had also been appreciated,” the statement added.
