JEHANGIR RASHID EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Feb 5: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 66 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 24,785. The death toll due to the virus reached 1,944 as one more person died in Kashmir valley in the past 24 hours. Srinagar district reported 25 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Jammu district nine cases, Budgam district eight cases, Anantnag district six cases, Pulwama district five cases, Ganderbal district three cases, Udhampur and Kathua districts two cases each and Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Kulgam, Rajouri & Poonch districts one case each. Ganderbal district in the Kashmir division reported one fresh Corona Virus death with no death being reported from Jammu division. So far 1,222 people have fallen prey to the virus in Kashmir valley while in Jammu division 722 virus related deaths have taken place up to this date. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 66 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 15 from Jammu division and 51 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 24,785. Also one COVID-19 death has been reported from Kashmir division. Moreover, 63 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 17 from Jammu division and 46 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 24,785 positive cases, 654 are active positive, 1, 22,187 have recovered and 1,944 have died; 722 in Jammu division and 1,222 in Kashmir division. Out of 46, 43,543 test results available, 45, 18,758 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 11, 56,989 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 34,512 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 654 in isolation and 99,218 in home surveillance. Besides, 10, 20,661 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 26,309 positive cases, 212 active positive, 25,639 recovered, 458 deaths; Baramulla has 8,128 positive cases, 37active positive, 7,917 recovered, 174 deaths; Budgam has 7,788 positive cases, 36 active positive, 7,634 recovered, 118 deaths; Pulwama has 5,740 positive cases, 43 active positive, 5,609 recovered, 88 deaths; Kupwara has 5,664 positive cases, 20 active positive, 5,548 recovered, 96 deaths. "Anantnag has 4,924 positive cases, 51 active positive, 4,787 recovered, 86 deaths; Bandipora has 4,696 positive cases, 19 active positive, 4,616 recovered, 61 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,642 positive cases, 64 active positive, 4,531 recovered, 47 deaths; Kulgam has 2,699 positive cases, 22 active positive, 2,623 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,573 positive cases, 23 active positive, 2,510 recovered, 40 deaths," reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,005 positive cases, 47 active positive, 24,587 recovered, 371 deaths; Udhampur has 4,212 positive cases, 27 active positive, 4,128 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,869 positive cases, two active positive, 3,812 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,432 positive cases, four active positive, 3,364 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,256 positive cases, four active positive, 3,199 recovered, 53 deaths. "Samba has 2,832 positive cases, 11 active positive, 2,781 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,732 positive cases, one active positive, 2,709 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,504 positive cases, 20 active positive, 2,460 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, four active positive, 2,110 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,645 positive cases, seven active positive, 1623 recovered, 15 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 24,785 positive cases in J&K, 11,763 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
