Shiv Sena protests against sky-high prices of petrol, diesel, cooking gas | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 5: Shiv Sena Bala Saheb Thackeray Jammu and Kashmir unit today protested strongly against the skyrocketing prices of gas, petrol and diesel. Dozens of party leaders led by party state president Manish Sahni said that those claiming the bullet train are forcing the public to walk on the bullock cart today. The government is filling its chests, but the public's pockets are becoming empty. He said that the result of the heavy taxes levied by the Govt. is that people have to buy petrol and diesel at three times more price than crude oil. The price of crude oil being only 29 rupees, the public has to pay 90-96 rupees. Sahni said that Indian Govt. is selling petrol at the most expensive prices compared to its neighbouring country's , Petrol is sold at Rs 60 per litre in Nepal, while Rs 63 in Sri Lanka and only Rs 49 a litre (in Indian currency) in Pakistan. Sahni said that gas prices have almost doubled during Modi's term. In the budget, the gas pipeline given to Jammu and Kashmir is being widely publicized, but the government is not ready to leave anything in the pocket of the public to cook something on the gas stove. On this occasion President Mehila wing Meenakshi Chibber, Chairman Rakesh Gupta, Gen Secretary Vikas Bakshi & G I Singh, Working President Ashwani Gupta, vice president Sanjeev Kohli Romesh Gupta, Secretary Balwant Singh, Bodhraj, Bhuri Singh President Reasi, Geeta Lakhotra Secretary, Santosh Rani, Rajesh Handa, Dimple, Jagannath, Mamta Devi Laba Ram and many others were present. |
