PC rejects NC allegation of DDC chairman election in Kupwara as fixed game
2/9/2021 9:08:33 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, Feb 9: Rejecting the National Conference (NC) allegation that election of District Development Council (DDC) chairman in Kupwara was fixed, Peoples Conference (PC) said they (NC) should accept the results sportingly.
Meanwhile, the PC which has won chairmanship of DDC Kupwara with the support of independents and others today expressed gratitude to the people of Kupwara and promised to work earnestly and zealously to make it a model district in development.
PC was a constituent of Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) till the DDC polls were over. However, it withdraw the alliance alleging that alliance partners fielded candidates against PAGD nominees.
Senior PC leader and former MLA Bashir Ahmad Dar while reacting to a statement issued by NC leader Qaiser Lone that election was fixed said that they should not be bad losers and accept the results sportingly.
Lone is day dreaming. With 4 NC members he believes he has the right to get party chairperson elected while the PC with 5 members is not supposed to even think about it.
He said, ''We garnered the support of an independent who was elected as the vice chairman. What does Mr Lone want? A chairmanship for his brother and if he doesn't get it then everything is fixed.
Dar said if they get to make it then everything is okay. The NC was sulking and stayed away. They did the same in Baramulla. If Mr Lone says that a partisan approach was used, why did that partisan support not work in Baramulla?", Dar said in a statement in a statement on Tuesday.
"We are under orders not to issue statements and I am only reacting to what Mr Lone said. Otherwise I could tell my people who they had aligned with and how the proposed alliance broke because of differences in who gets what post. If Lone wants I will share with him telephone details, details of meetings he had with the very people his party is berating every day. I would suggest him not be bad losers and accept defeat sportingly", he added.
Asserting that the PC shares the concerns of other parties in terms of horse trading, Dar implored Lone to not cry foul at places where they don't win.
"If you are to raise fingers specifically where you don't win your utterances will have no takers even at places which seem unambiguously suspicious", he concluded.
Meanwhile, PC General Secretary Imran Reza Ansari today expressed gratitude to the people of Kupwara and promised to work earnestly and zealously to make Kupwara a model district in development.
"I thank the people of district Kupwara for reposing their faith and trust in the Peoples Conference. The results have demonstrated widespread acceptance for PC leadership and its policies among the masses. I also express immense gratitude to the workers and supporters of PC for their relentless and tireless efforts in ensuring the victory of Peoples Conference in the recently held DDC elections", Imran Ansari said in a statement.
