UDA extends best wishes to Azad on retirement | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 9: United Democratic Alliance (UDA), Jammu and Kashmir congratulated Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad for rendering an excellent service and also conveyed best wishes to him for his future. “I am fully confident that now Ghulam Nabi Azad will further strengthen his role in social service after gaining this experience. Azad has made his own contribution, has his own importance and have made every possible effort for making the country’s future bright while being the member of the House and country can never forget him,” said Rajiv Mahajan, convenor UDA in his message. Under the post-poll alliance between the Congress and PDP in 2002, Rajiv said, Azad succeeded Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and became the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir in October 2005 before PDP pulled out in 2008 over the Amarnath land row prompting him to resign months before his three-year term. Rajiv Mahajan said that people are now comparing the era of Azad with the tenure of other leaders and it is a prudent fact that spree of development during Azad’s tenure is unforgettable and achievements in respect of overall development of the State during his tenure has no past example. He said during short tenure as Chief Minister of State Azad had took historical decisions whether it was creation of eight districts, double shift work culture or curbing of corruption in the State or as Health Minister sanctioning of Five medical colleges for the State it is his vision which helped the State to move forward and compete with other states of the country. |
