DB directs AAG to file affidavit whether directions issued by Div Com complied | PIL regarding closure of illegal diversions on National Highway | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 9: In a Public Interest Litigation regarding illegal diversions and cuts on the particular stretch of the National Highways be checked and closed, a Division Bench of J&K High Court comprising Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey directed Additional Advocate General FA Natnoo to seek instructions and to file an affidavit indicating whether the directions issued by the Divisional Commissioner as mentioned in his report dated 26.03.2018 have been complied with or not. It is worthwhile to mention that on 26th of March 2018, Divisional Commissioner directed the National Highway Authority was directed to close all illegal cuts on the National Highway from Kunjwani Bye-pass to Nagrota Bye-pass. The directions were also issued to make proper marking of all median cuts on the said stretch of the National Highway so as to enable the authorities competent to operate on it. The Traffic Police/District Administrations/District Police were also directed to ensure that service lanes created adjacent to the National Highway are made free for traffic within a period of two days. Further directions were also issued to ensure free flow of traffic on the said stretch of the National Highway and that idle parking of the vehicles shall also not be allowed. (JNF) |
