College hostels should be opened immediately: ABVP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 10: A delegation of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) met the Principal of GDC Udhampur in the leadership of ABVP College President Munish Sharma and ABVP Udhampur City Secretary Hardeep Jamwal and discussed about the problems being faced by the students due to non-availability of hostels. Talking to the Principal, College President Munish Sharma said that students are facing a lot of problems nowadays when colleges are opening for the first time after the Corona lockdown. Due to non-availability of hostels, students coming from remote areas of the district are forced to sleep on roads. Students belonging to poor families are unable to take rooms on rent in the city. As a result, they are not able to study well due to which their future is at stake. For this, the students also staged a protest outside the principal's office. After long talks, the principal assured to solve the problems of students and said that students will get hostels very soon. While addressing the media, ABVP Udhampur City Secretary Hardeep Jamwal demanded from the district administration that all hostel rooms should be completely sanitized before providing hostels to the students as hostels were made quarantine centers during the Corona period and Corona positive people were placed here. Therefore, we demand from the college administration and district administration that the hostels should be sanitized and made available to the students at the earliest. |
