early times report jammu, Feb 10: Government on Wednesday attached the Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner (APFC) Samba for allegedly withholding PF claims of employees in the district. An inquiry has been ordered to look into the complaints and the alleged violations committed by the officer during his stay in the office. The official order No PFC/3/14 of 2021 dated 10-02-2021 issued by the office of Additional Provident Fund Commissioner Jammu reads: "In view of fair and transparent enquiry initiated by the higher authorities and instructions issued by the Provident Fund Commissioner regarding the complaints against Assistant PF Commissioner Samba Zahoor Ahmed, is hereby attached with Divisional Office Jammu." The order further states: "Mohammad Sadiq incharge Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner Kathua shall look after the work of District PF office Samba in addition to his own duties." Sources in the department told Early Times a number of complaints were received by the office of Provident Fund Commissioner against the officer. After receiving a complaint in February 2020 against the officer the government vide its order No. 33 L&E of 2020 dated 8-5-2020 had appointed Showkat Ahmad Additional Secretary to Govt, Labour and Employment Department as enquiry officer and asked him to furnish the report within 15 days but no enquiry was initiated. The complaints were regarding withholding of PF claims filed online by the employees. As per rules the PF claims have to be forwarded to dealing clerks on same day but the aggrieved employees alleged that their claims were not settled even after 3-4 months while the other employees working with them managed to get claims in their accounts through alleged nexus. Gross violation was observed wherein APFC didn't take action against some companies in Samba district for not depositing employers' contribution with the office. Pertinently the officer in question has not been transferred for the past five years. |
