| CSR of J&K Bank a myth for Jammu: Citizens’ Forum | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Mar 14: Citizens’ Forum requested LG Manoj Sinha to impress upon the Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Bank to allot some fund under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to Jammu region as CSR is a myth for Jammu region and reality for Kashmir.
Hundreds of crore have been spent in Kashmir by Kashmir appointed Chairmen in the past by the J&K Bank Ltd but when we took up the issue for same treatment for Jammu some 12 lakhs only were spent on maintaining a Garden on Tawi bank. Under Section 135 in the Companies Act 2013 it is stipulated to must provide 2% of last 3 years average profit for CSR activities and an implementation report on the same is a part of the Annual Reports of The Banks/Companies. It is on record J&K Bank has been distributing loans to blue eyed boys of politicians despite knowing that they will never be returned but not anything under CSR to Jammu region as a genuine expenditure.
R K Chadha, president Citizens’ Forum said our request for allotment of just 8-10 crorers under CSR by JK Bank about 2 years back for converting and renovating Jammu city's 30 government dispensaries and clinics in to full-fledged Mohalla Clinics on the pattern of Delhi Mohalla clinics, fully air -conditioned and equipped with modern infrastructure and proper medical staff to lessen the load on GMC Jammu which is already suffocating with rush of patients from all over Jammu region. Please give Jammu its due share of infrastructure, he added. |
