Rajouri, Mar 24: World Water day was celebrated by the Environmental Sciences, Centre for Biodiversity Studies, BGSB University. The theme of World Water Day 2021 is valuing water. Beyond the issues of pricing, this theme focuses on the environmental, social and cultural values people place on water. Prof Akbar Masood, Vice Chancellor, BGSBU in his message said that while celebrating the world water day, we must pledge to save every single drop of this valuable resource. Throwing light on the the theme of world water day 2021,Prof. Akbar said that the value of water is much more than its price. He said that water has enormous value for our households, food, culture, health, education, economics and the integrity of our natural environment. Prof. Akbar said that this day is an opportunity to learn more about water related issues, be inspired to tell others and take action to make a difference.Prof.Akbar urged upon the BGSBU community to come forward proactively as individuals and as a community for water conservation. Prof. Iqbal Parwez, Dean, School of Biosciences and Biotechnology said that the importance of water is more than just essential to quench thirst or protect health; water is vital for creating jobs and supporting economic, social, and human development. Dr. Shreekar Pant, Coordinator, Centre for Biodiversity Studies highlighted the importance of water for the existence of life on earth. Dr. Mamta Bhat Coordinated the programme. |
