Address people’s issues on priority: DDC chairman
Flays snail’s pace of work on Basohli-Dharmahanpur Road
4/5/2021 11:32:26 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 5: Irked by the snail’s pace of work on Basohli-Dharmahanpur road in Kathua District, DDC Chairman, Kathua district, Col (Retd.) Mahan Singh pulled the AEE PMGSY for the alleged inordinate delay and poor work on the said project and instructed him to pace up the speed to complete the project at the earliest.
Addressing a Public Darbar in remote area of Dhar Mahanpur block of District Kathua, Col Mahan Singh questioned the PMGSY authorities for inordinate delay and poor quality of work in the ongoing upgradation/black topping of 21 Km long Basohli-Dhar Mahanpur Road.
He said that the work of this PMGSY road had commenced in November 2017 and was to be completed by October 2019 but unfortunately its completion still seems to be uncertain despite the fact that it is the life line for the far-flung and backward region of Dhar Mahanpur.
Col Mahan Singh said that only about 8 Km stretch of road was black topped last year, but owing to extremely poor quality of material used the same could not sustain even for a month and road lies in the worst ever condition.
He said that the highly dilapidated road condition continues to cause tremendous problems to more than 50,000 people living in this region and using this road.
It is pertinent to mention here that all the sectoral/block officers were present during the Darbar proceedings.
The DDC Chairman discussed at length all various issues related to drinking water, power supply, health care, delay in payments by RDD etc. He passed on instructions to the concerned officers to immediately address the issues of the people of this remote area on priority basis.
Interacting with the people of the area he reiterated his commitment to ensure overall development of district Kathua with special emphasis on rural and far-off areas especially that of Dhar Mahanpur block of this district. He assured that besides development of the area he will ensure that the benefits of various schemes meant for the socio-economic upliftment of the poor and needy reach the doorsteps of the people in this remote area. He said only then we can say that the objective of good governance has been achieved.
