Ring Road Project: Authorities adopt delay tactics in releasing compensation to poor farmers | | | Early Times Report jammu, Apr 5: Notwithstanding tall claims of the authorities, a large number of poor farmers- whose land has been acquired for much publicized Ring Road project, have yet to get compensation. Due to lack of coordination among different departments and rampant corruption, these poor families are facing hardship in getting compensation of their fertile land. Reliable sources said that during a meeting to progress of work on Ring Road Project, newly appointed Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Raghav Langer took officers to task for finalizing compensation cases. The Div Comm took a strong note of pending compensation and directed concerned officers to complete the disbursement. He sought 100 % disbursement of land compensation to the owners of acquired land in a time bound manner. Shockingly authorities have acquired their highly fertile land for the proposed Ring Road project by offering meager compensation. And now delay tactics have been adopted in giving compensation. For construction of 57 kilometers Ring Road, the the government has acquired land from over 1400 farmers. As reported earlier, the proposed road would take off from Raya Morh at Vijaypur in Samba district and connect with Jammu Srinagar Highway at Nagrota Bye-pass. The 57 kilometer road would cover small and big 44 villages of Samba and Jammu districts. The Ring Road with proposed width of 60 meters in plain and 45 meters in hilly areas will pass through Samba, R S Pura, Bishnah and Jammu tehsils of Jammu division. |
