Early Times Report
RAJOURI, Apr 14: It may sound bizarre but it's a fact that majority of nallahs in Sunderbani tehsil of district Rajouri have come under encroachment where people have got illegal construction over slabs.
Interestingly all these menace has been going on under the nose of the concerned Municipal Committee but it showed ignorance of matters of any such encroachment, which speaks volume of corruption in the authority.
It has been witnessed that encroachments on nallahs and roads in town have been going on for the last more than ten years but no action has been taken by the municipal committee against them. The local NGO NPYO and Many Social activists raised their concern on this issue but inaction of the department has been giving boost to this malpractice.
They raised questions over the working of municipal committee Sudnerbani by saying that where were authorities when these nallahs were being encroached. The people who have encroached these nallahs are so influential that nobody dares to take action against them.
They alleged that officials of MC Sunderbani are involved in corrupt practice for hushing up matters of such violations. The cases encroachments have risen during UT administration, which has become a serious cause of concern.
Executive Officer (EO) Sunderbani, Nitin Gupta when contacted, feigned ignorance of the matter and said that he had got knowledge of the matter through the media and said that he would inquire about the matter.
