Security breach’ at Tulip Garden!
4/14/2021 11:46:32 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

Srinagar, Apr 14: The famous Tulip Garden on the banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar here has come under scanner for a “security breach” as some of the visitors had allegedly “entered into the garden by unlawfully crossing over the fence.”
Though the Jammu and Kashmir Police have security in place at the entrance of the Tulip Garden for frisking of the visitors, what has come as “shocker for the security agencies” is that people had been venturing into the garden from the backyard in violation of the law in the fortified area.
This has raised security concerns as several VIPs also keep visiting the Tulip Garden. Recently Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and his counterpart from Kerala were among those who visited the park.
A major festival was also held at the garden where apart from others Bollywood celebrities were also present.
Sources said it was for the first time that it was observed that people were venturing into the park by breaking the security protocols.
Security experts said more security personnel must be deployed around the Tulip Garden in person during the VIP visits.
“The point is that in a place like Kashmir you cannot take chances. Security arrangement around the gardens needs to be beefed up on priority,” the expert said on the condition of anonymity. Sources said the matter has come to the notice of the security agencies in Kashmir and they have even got access to some pictures of the alleged breach of protocol by visitors.
Sources said the matter was discussed at a meeting and that security would be even beefed up in the area.
It is pertinent to mention that Raj Bhawan which is the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha is at a stone’s throw from the Tulip Garden.
