Authorities adamant to call teachers to attend schools without students | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Apr 14: Higher-ups in the education department have made it a prestige issue to call teachers in the schools without any student. The coronavirus-positive cases are witnessing a daily spike and experts are predicting a peak only by the end of April, authorities are not ready to shut the schools completely. Keeping in view a surge in corona positive cases, authorities on April 11 ordered that all schools in the Union Territory will remain closed for another week. An order issued by the government said that after taking an overall assessment of the situation pertaining to the spread of Covid-19 in Jammu and Kashmir, the state executive committee has decided that all schools in the union territory shall remain closed till April 18. Ironically schools have been closed but authorities have directed the teachers to attend the schools. Amid a spike in the cases, directing teaching and non-teaching staff to attend ‘closed’ is fraught with danger because recently some teachers were tested positive. Instead of directing teachers to attend schools without students, authorities should fix responsibilities on them to teach students through online. |
