J&K orders 1.20 cr doses of vaccine, has enough oxygen available: LG

Srinagar, Apr 30: Urging people of Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir not to panic, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha said that administration has ordered 1.20 crore doses of vaccine for vaccination of people between the age group of 18 years to 45 years.
Jammu and Kashmir recorded 3474 fresh positive cases of COVId-19-1024 from Jammu division and 2450 from Kashmir on Thursday. The UT also recorded 26 death-17 from Jammu and 9 from Kashmir.
''We are equipped to deal with the emerging situation the availability of oxygen is more than double the requirement'', Sinha informed on Twitter.
He said the people of J&K need not panic as we are equipped to deal with the emerging situation. One crore twenty lakh doses are ordered for vaccination of 18 to 45 age-group, he said.
About the oxygen, he said many oxygen generation plants have become operational and remaining will also start functioning soon. The availability of oxygen is more than double the requirement, he said.
Mr Sinha has also asked the Indian Red Cross Society ( IRCS) and its volunteers to make people aware about all the Do's and Don'ts of Covid. There are many out there who are propagating misinformation among the people, which needs to be countered with facts, Mr Sinha said.
He said during his meeting with office-bearers, volunteers of IRCS, J&K he asked the officials to help Administration in reaching out to people living in far flung areas with food, medical assistance and other essential items.
An official spokesman said that LG acknowledged the significant role played by IRCS and lauded the Volunteers for their selflessness and dedicated service towards public.
However, he called upon them to renew their commitment and determination in complementing Government's efforts to speed up the vaccination drive and tackle the challenges of Covid pandemic.
