Delay in setting up oxygen plants: Criminal negligence of Health Deptt exposed | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 30: As the delay in setting up of 37 oxygen plants in different hospitals has exposed prevailing mess and corruption in the health department, officers are shifting blames on each other for this criminal negligence. Reliable sources said that Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Raghav Langer has taken serious note of criminal negligence on the part of the officers who were responsible for completing these plants in a time-framed manner. “When Divisional Commissioner Jammu inquired about from the higher-ups of the Power Workers Department (PWD) regarding delay in setting up these plants, they revealed that delay was on the part of Health Department”, authenticated sources said and pointed out that higher-ups of the health department have taken casually as they were allegedly wanted to give contracts to particular firms. Reliable sources said that higher-ups in the Health Department sat on oxygen plants for months together due to their petty personal interests. “Those who are at the helm of affairs in Health Department have political patronage so they are least concerned about enhancing medical facilities in the different hospitals across J&K”, sources said and revealed that top-brass of the Health Department have the patronage of a group of BJP leaders so they (officers) were never concerned about improving infrastructure in the hospitals. As reported earlier by the Early Times, February 2021 was the deadline to complete these oxygen plants. On October 10, 2020, Atal Dulloo, Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education had announced that tenders worth Rs 223 crores have already been floated to set up oxygen plants in 37 hospitals across J&K. He rather claimed that bids have been received and works would be allotted within a week’s time. |
