5/1/2021 12:51:13 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 30: If the Covid second wave comes under control by then, New Delhi looks ahead for a major reshuffle in the official machinery in the Jammu and Kashmir by June.
Sources said Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Home Minister, Amit Shah have agreed to the plan of brining in “new faces at the helm” in the union territory.
Sources said after consultations with Lieutenant Manoj Sinha, New Delhi looks ahead to depute at least four top ranking officials “presently working elsewhere on deputation” to Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources said each of the new faces are scheduled to be brought into police and civil administration.
Sources said the Union government has “made up its mind on the induction of the new faces after detailed conversations” with Sinha.
Sources said the issue was not only discussed with Sinha during his previous visit to the national capital but that he was asked to tell about his choice of officials as well.
Sources said through the decision, the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi looks ahead to further improve deliverance of good governance.
It was reliably learnt that Sinha has held discussions with some of the “probable faces for the new assignment.”
Sources said the reshuffle was scheduled for the month of June. “This plan was on the cards in the second week of April but as since then the Covid second wave has gripped country things are a bit skeptical. But if the graph starts to show downward trend by middle of May, things will go as scheduled,” said a source in New Delhi privy to the deliberations.
It is pertinent to mention that reshuffle in the top brass has been awaited for many months especially since Sinha assumed charge as the new LG.
“After his (Sinha’s) appointment such shakeup got delayed due to delimitation process but as the same has been extended by a year, new faces at the helm are quite expected,” said a top source privy to the deliberations.
The government, however, has been silent over such possibilities.
