Rajouri, May 9: Terming Executive Engineer Rajouri, the Assistant Executive Engineer and Chief Account Officer of Jal Shakti, the need based employees accused them for withholding their salary for the last twenty months due to which they have been put to hardships.
A strong protest demonstration was held by need based employees at Old Water Works Department demanding release of their salary.
They alleged that except Rajouri district, the salary is being released in all other districts but more shockingly the blue eyed of these officers have been released salary but rest of the employees who have been working day and night have been ignored.
Amid surge of COVID-19 pandemic the lives of these employees have become miserable despite the fact that these need based employees work harder than the permanent employees yet they are given step- motherly treatment.
Protesting employees alleged that there are mainly three officials who have been harassing them by not releasing their salary for their vested interests and if their salaries were not released at the earliest soon they will sit on hunger strike and will not let the department function and even they will also not let the permanent employees work.
They further said that the voucher system has been introduced in the department in Rajouri only while in other districts there is no such provision, which is another method to harass them. The bureaucracy in the Jal Department Rajouri has jeopardized the its’ smooth functioning.
Meanwhile when Early Times contacted the Executive Engineer Jal Shakti department Rajouri and asked about the allegations levelled by the employees for derailing the department and adopting favouritism in releasing salary, the official got angry on the reporter for asking such a question which clearly indicates that the department has been hiding its misdeeds.
