DC Kishtwar order to shift dead bodies of COVID Patients directly to graveyards, cremation grounds

Kishtwar, May 9: In a significant development towards safeguarding the lives of the people and to prevent the spread of COVID 19 pandemic in District, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar today order for direct shifting of dead bodies to cremation ground and graveyards instead of their homes as same could be a reason for spread of the virus further deep within the community.
As per the details available with Early Times, as a part of containment measures for COVID 19 in the District Kishtwar issued the order vide No. DMK/COVID-19/1309-1337 Dated 9-5-2021 stated that for the smooth conduct of the cremation of confirmed COVID 19 positive cases within the territorial jurisdiction of Kishtwar District ordered that dead bodies shall be directly taken to the cremation ground/graveyards.
In his order DC Kishtwar directed that CMO/BMO concern shall deploy ambulance if required as per SOP and also made necessary arrangements along with deployment of staff with PPF Kits with all precautionary measures as per COVID 19 protocol.
He further order that the cremation or the burial will take place on the same day when they will reach in the District and BMO concern shall remain in touch with the attendants accompanied the dead body.
“SP Kishtwar shall make sufficient deployment of security personnel at the place to ensure that the cremation shall takes place as per the SOPs. Concern Tehsildar shall depute duty magistrate at the place of the cremation” read the order.
Senior official in the administration told the Early Times that similar practice will be in place for those COVID patients who in case died at District hospital Kishtwar or any other health institution in the District. He said that all possible measures are being taken to prevent the spread of disease in the District.
“Let me appeal to the people to stay with in their homes and follow all the SOPs” the senior official said added that essential services will be felicitated smoothly for which the directions to the officials on ground has been conveyed.
