SRINAGAR, May 9: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 5,190 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 2, 16,932. Following 54 fresh deaths the death toll due to the virus reached 2,726. Srinagar district reported 920 fresh cases followed by Jammu district 658 cases, Budgam district 508 cases, Baramulla district 454 cases, Anantnag district 415 cases, Kulgam district 281 cases, Kupwara district 277 cases, Kathua district 252 cases, Rajouri district 211 cases, Shopian district 187 cases, Udhampur district 179 cases, Pulwama district 158 cases, Samba district 138 cases, Ganderbal district 135 cases, Reasi district 126 cases, Bandipora district 85 cases, Poonch district 74 cases, Ramban district 70 cases, Kishtwar district 32 cases and Doda district 30 cases. Jammu district reported 19 fresh COVID-19 deaths followed by Srinagar district 11 deaths, Rajouri district seven deaths, Kupwara and Ganderbal district three deaths each, Kathua, Poonch and Bandipora districts two deaths each and Udhampur, Kishtwar, Baramulla, Budgam & Kulgam districts one death each. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 5,190 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) 1,770 from Jammu division and 3,420 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2, 16,932. Also 54 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 32 from Jammu division and 22 from Kashmir division. Moreover, 2,423 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 624 from Jammu division and 1,799 from Kashmir division. Out of 2, 16,932 positive cases, 49,248 are active positive, 1, 64,958 have recovered and 2,726 have died; 1,171in Jammu division and 1,555 in Kashmir division. Out of 76, 53,001 test results available, 74, 36,069 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 19, 10,634 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 86,965 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 49,248 in isolation and 1, 30,288in home surveillance. Besides, 16, 41,407 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 53,134 positive cases, 11,179 active positive, 41,342 recovered, 613 deaths; Baramulla has 16,404 positive cases, 4,028 active positive, 12,164 recovered, 212 deaths; Budgam has 13,919 positive cases, 3,510 active positive, 10,266 recovered, 143 deaths; Anantnag has 10,194 positive cases, 3,711 active positive, 6,364 recovered, 119 deaths; Pulwama has 9,002 positive cases, 2,212 active positive, 6,672 recovered, 118 deaths. “Kupwara has 8,349 positive cases, 1,621 active positive, 6,619 recovered, 109 deaths; Kulgam has 6,412 positive cases, 2,867 active positive, 3,473 recovered, 72 deaths; Ganderbal has 6,279 positive cases, 966 active positive, 5,257 recovered, 56 deaths; Bandipora has 6,241 positive cases, 825active positive, 5,347 recovered, 69 deaths and Shopian has 3,966 positive cases, 1,067 active positive, 2,855 recovered, 44 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 39,937 positive cases, 7,447 active positive, 31,835 recovered, 655 deaths; Udhampur has 7,542 positive cases, 1,458 active positive, 6,009 recovered, 75 deaths; Rajouri has 6,616 positive cases, 2,501 active positive, 4,018 recovered, 97 deaths; Kathua has 6,023 positive cases, 1,368 active positive, 4,580 recovered, 75 deaths; Samba has 4,732 positive cases, 1,658 active positive, 3,006 recovered, 68 deaths. “Doda has 4,132 positive cases, 450 active positive, 3,611 recovered, 71deaths; Reasi has 4,006 positive cases, 635 active positive, 3,351 recovered, 20 deaths; Poonch has 3,634 positive cases, 878 active positive, 2,707 recovered, 49 deaths; Ramban has 3,223 positive cases, 648 active positive, 2,540 recovered, 35 deaths and Kishtwar has 3,187 positive cases, 219 active positive, 2,942 recovered, 26 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 2, 16,932 positive cases, 20,435 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
