BLOs concerned over lack of safety measures for house to house survey | | | JAMMU, May 11: Jammu Kashmir Booth Level Association (JKBLO) held a monthly virtual meeting here today. In the meeting, the State Vice Chairman Rakesh Singh expressed strong resentment against the District administration and concerned higher authorities which ordered house to house survey by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) for not taking into consideration the safety measures of BLOs during this survey. Singh taking a strong note said that as per SOP issued BLOs and allied team has to wear triple layer mask but no such mask is provided to the concerning BLOs and also no gloves and hand sanitizers is issued to the concerned BLOs. This has created a huge resentment among the BLOs. Further Singh said that as per nature of survey it is almost sure that every BLO may come in direct or indirect contact with Covid positive patients so administration should consider the demand of all BLOs for vaccination at priority. Association also urged Chief Electoral officer to look into the other long pending genuine demands of BLOs which includes increasing annual remuneration to 12000 equivalent to Supervisor as it is anomaly that whole work of election and other duties assigned are done by BLOs and Supervisors are merely a mute spectator but BLOs are much less paid than Supervisors which is a matter of grave injustice, Providing Laptop to each BLO for smooth conduct of Summary Revision of Electoral roll, providing Mobile allowance of 300 RS per month . Singh also said that Stationary kit should be issued to BLOs regularly but is has seen that such kit is given to BLOs occasionally which is not acceptable by the BLO community. |
