SRINAGAR, May 11: The number of COVID-19 positive cases in Jammu & Kashmir reached 2, 24,898 as 4,352 new cases of virus were reported in the past 24 hours. The death toll due to the virus reached 2,847 with 65 deaths being reported during the same period of time. Srinagar district reported 846 new cases followed by Jammu district 602 cases, Baramulla district 361 cases, Budgam district 322 cases, Pulwama district 282 cases, Kulgam district 269 cases, Kathua district 251 cases, Rajouri district 208 cases, Anantnag district 198 cases, Kupwara district 171 cases, Udhampur district 156 cases, Reasi district 103 cases, Samba district 101 cases, Poonch district 87 cases, Bandipora district 85 cases, Doda district 81 cases, Ramban district 67 cases, Shopian district 58 cases and Ganderbal & Kishtwar districts 52 cases each. Jammu district reported 28 fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by Srinagar district eight deaths, Udhampur and Anantnag districts six deaths each, Kathua and Samba districts three deaths each, Budgam, Pulwama, Bandipora and Ganderbal districts two deaths each and Rajouri, Baramulla & Kulgam districts one death each. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 4,352 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 1,708 from Jammu division and 2,644 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2, 24,898. Also 65 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 41 from Jammu division and 24 from Kashmir division. Moreover, 3,537 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 1,275 from Jammu division and 2,262 from Kashmir division. Out of 2, 24,898 positive cases, 50,701 are active positive, 1, 71,350 have recovered and 2,847have died; 1251in Jammu division and 1,596 in Kashmir division. Out of 77, 31,176 test results available, 75, 06,278 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 19, 26,488 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 86,264 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 50,701 in isolation and 1, 31,873 in home surveillance. Besides, 16, 54,803 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 54,681 positive cases, 11,005 active positive, 43,046 recovered, 630 deaths; Baramulla has 16,928 positive cases, 3,968 active positive, 12,747 recovered, 213 deaths; Budgam has 14,584positive cases, 3,770 active positive, 10,668 recovered, 146 deaths; Anantnag has 10,526 positive cases, 3,818 active positive, 6,581 recovered, 127 deaths; Pulwama has 9,419 positive cases, 2,340 active positive, 6,955 recovered, 124 deaths. “Kupwara has 8,707 positive cases, 1,635 active positive, 6,962 recovered, 110 deaths; Kulgam has 6,935 positive cases, 3,251 active positive, 3,611 recovered, 73 deaths; Ganderbal has 6,407 positive cases, 957 active positive, 5,392 recovered, 58 deaths; Bandipora has 6,391 positive cases, 793 active positive, 5,527 recovered, 71 deaths and Shopian has 4,084 positive cases, 1,123 active positive, 2,917 recovered, 44 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 41,197 positive cases, 7,716 active positive, 32,767 recovered, 714 deaths; Udhampur has 7,835 positive cases, 1,392 active positive, 6,360 recovered, 83 deaths; Rajouri has 6,994 positive cases, 2,779 active positive, 4,115 recovered, 100 deaths; Kathua has 6,420 positive cases, 1,531 active positive, 4,809 recovered, 80 deaths; Samba has 4,991 positive cases, 1,584 active positive, 3,335 recovered, 72 deaths. “Doda has 4,247 positive cases, 544 active positive, 3,632 recovered, 71deaths; Reasi has 4,184 positive cases, 684 active positive, 3,479 recovered, 21 deaths; Poonch has 3,778 positive cases, 860 active positive, 2,869 recovered, 49 deaths; Ramban has 3,340 positive cases, 717 active positive, 2,588 recovered, 35 deaths and Kishtwar has 3,250 positive cases, 234 active positive, 2,990 recovered, 26 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 2, 24,898 positive cases, 20,594 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
