Prominent public figures appeal people to stay indoors, follow SOPs

UDHAMPUR, May 11: To spread mass awareness about Covid safety measures, District Udhampur Administration has roped in prominent public figures to encourage the people to follow Covid appropriate behavior.
The move is part of various containment measures taken by the administration to contain the transmission of COVID-19 disease in the District Udhampur under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Indu Kanwal Chib.
The DC appealed to the people of the district to follow the standard operating procedures (SOP) in the wake of rise in Covid-19 cases in second wave in the District. The DC said that there is an urgent need to follow all the Covid-19 mitigation measures in letter and spirit as the situation is deteriorating day by day. In her appeal, the DC said that the need of the hour is to make usage of double mask, maintain social distancing at all places besides other Covid SOPs avoid unnecessary crowding to prevent further spread. While sharing the block wise data of vaccination in the District, which is still low at 65%, the DC once again appealed to the people of the District to come forward and get themselves vaccinated against Covid 19. The DC informed that the District Administration has also started mapping exercise of positive/ suspect cases in the District.
Apart from this the prominent figures of civil society and religious heads of District Udhampur repeatedly appealed to the people and motivated them to follow SOPs especially the use of face masks and adopting social distancing. They stressed upon the need to adhere to Covid related SOPs issued by the government from time to time.
On behalf of Rural Development Department, Assistant Commissioner Development, Mushtaq Chowdhary appealed the general public especially Muslim community to come in front and get vaccinated against Covid-19. He said that the vaccine is safe and secure and it is not nutrious in nature and does not break fast observed during Ramadan.
Vice President MC Udhampur Surinder Singh Khalsa, through his message, expressed concern on the rising number of covid 19 cases in the district and exhorted the people to follow the lock down measures properly and do not come out of their houses. Khalsa urged upon the public to take this deadly virus seriously and religiously follow all the covid 19 SOPs and to get vaccinated.
