Udhampur , May 12:Following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, organizations all around the country hastened to respond by enforcing measures such as social-distancing, quarantine and isolation. While necessary, these measures can have a significant effect on people’s mental health. Fear, anxiety, anger, sadness and grief are compounded by being away from schools, work, peers, adjusting to new ways of learning and working. For this reason, Government College for Women, Udhampur, in collaboration with 'The Transformers Value Creators' Chandigarh, hosted a webinar titled “Mental Health and Emotional Wellness” for the faculty of the college, today. Manjula Sularia, the CEO of the organization is a Josh talk speaker, a Life Skills coach, a social entrepreneur, who has trained and counselled more than two lac individuals. The aim of this webinar was to provide the faculty with a platform for genuine connection amid uncertainty, encouraging them to field their questions to the speaker, generate mental health awareness, and strengthen demand for integrated mental health and psychosocial interventions. During the webinar, Manjula Sularia, the speaker, talked about the feelings of being stressed, anxious, and overwhelmed; each of which one might have experienced at some point or another along their academic journey, especially over the last few months while dealing with the enforced social isolation and uncertainties around the COVID-19 pandemic. Minu Mahajan, Principal of the college said, “Educators and school administrators are leading through challenging circumstances, and this webinar has surely helped them as they navigate these tense times”. She further appreciated the organizer Lt (Dr.) Kamal Deep Kaur, Associate NCC Officer of the college. The webinar was attended by 80 participants approximately, wherein the welcome address was presented by the Principal and the vote of thanks was given by the organizer. |
