Early Times Report

Kishtwar, May 12: Over 3500 Hospital Development Fund Employees who are working over night during ongoing pandemic are facing official apathy at behest of the government who are denying them their legitimate dues and incentives which were recently sanctioned by the LG Manoj Senha in favour of health workers viz Doctors, Paramedical staff and drivers of the health department working in Jammu and Kashmir but left the employees working under Hospital Development Fund category beside the sweepers. As per the details available with Early Times, over two dozen HDF employees and sweepers at District Hospital Kishtwar held a token silent protest to convey the message to the government that they too are part of the health department who are working along with doctors, paramedical staff as frontline COVID workers.
Speaking to Early Times, Arif Hussain Sheikh Provincial Vice President HDF employees Jammu inform that majority of the employees working under HDF are toiling hard to run day to day affairs of the family and at many places HDF workers had not been paid since last 15 months.
He said that despite all odds they are working in COVID centers since the disease breakout last year and since then many of HDF employees tested positive added that even HDF President Nisar Ahmed is positive and is recovering from the disease added that despite providing selflessness services they are being treated indifferently by the government while recognising their services.
“Some Doctors had Rs. 2 Lakh salary per month while paramedical staff had a salary of Rs. 60000 plus while we are being paid Rs. 3/4000- still government announced special incentives for them and ignoring us who are being paid pea nuts” said Arif Sheikh. He said that even after J&K converted into Union Territory, they are being denied salary at par with minimum wages act and called upon the government to include them in the order for providing special incentives to them. He said that they don’t want to go on strike at the time when people needed them most added that government should not force them to hit the streets.
He said that some of their colleagues in valley and at Jammu are without salaries since last more than 15 months and acknowledged the contribution of all the HDF Employees who despite all odds are withstanding with the present crises.
“We are getting enough salaries— if someone deserves the incentives— HDF employees are the one” said a doctor wishing not to be named and acknowledged the contribution of HDF employees in running the day to day affairs at District Hospital Kishtwar.
