Shameful act by Traffic cop during COVID-19 pandemic | Uses offensive language with attendant at CD Hospital on car parking issue | | ARUN SINGH
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 12: In a shameful act amid COVID pandemic, a traffic cop has allegedly misbehaved with an attendant, whose mother was admitted in CD Hospital Jammu for being Corona positive and battling for life. The Traffic cop used abusive language against the attendant in full public view on the car parking issue. Although other traffic cops, who were also present on the spot, were cooperative and understanding the situation, this particular cop crossed all limits as he humiliated and threatened the attendant only for a petty parking issue. While narrating his ordeal to Early Times, the attendant Vikrant Mahajan, who faced humiliation, said that his mother was admitted in COVID Ward No 8 of CD Hospital Jammu for the last 3-4 days and was under treatment. “Today morning at around 10 am I came to CD Hospital to hand over breakfast to my mother. While parking my car in the Hospital premises, the guard present namely Bhupinder Singh asked me that there is no parking available inside the hospital and requested to park the vehicle outside the hospital in the parking assigned by the Traffic Police Department. So I went to park there but shockingly no parking space was available there also. I was getting late for giving breakfast to my mother so I parked my vehicle inside CD Hospital,” he said. He further informed that around 11:30 am he got a call from a traffic cop named Suresh Kumar who very politely told me that my vehicle was wrongly parked. “After receiving his call I immediately reached the spot and I got my car out of the hospital premises being a responsible citizen but then suddenly a traffic cop named Jagbir Singh Sudan who came out of a traffic vehicle bearing number JK19-8587 and was on special duty in CD Hospital, started misbehaving with me despite the fact that I was taking away my vehicle and used abusive language. He threatened to beat me,” Vikrant Mahajan alleged. “I was shocked to see that Jagbir Singh again turned towards me and started threatening. This kind of behavior of a traffic cop with an attendant of a patient whose mother is in a very critical position and at this time of pandemic was totally uncalled for,” he said. When Early Times contacted the SP Traffic Pardeeep Gouria, he said that he would definitely look into the matter and will ensure that such kind of incident might not happen again. He also expressed his sympathy with the attendant in his difficult situation. |
