LG Sinha extends helping hand | | | Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has taken an appreciable step by extending a helping hand to families, who lost their kith and kin to COVID-19 pandemic in the recent times. J&K is first among UTs and states across the country which has announced such relief for families in distress. The steps that have been announced include special pension to senior citizens who lost only earning member, children on parents death, be provided special scholarship, financial assistance for self-employment. Rs 1000/ to be deposited into the accounts of registered construction workers, ponywalas, palkiwalas, pithuwalas for the next two months and Rs 55 crore to be released to Div Coms, DCs, J&K Police under SDRF for emergency use. People across the world have been facing the COVID-19 onslaught for the past more than a year. The developed countries have provided financial assistance to their denizens but many third world countries have failed to reach out to their citizens. However, in India, state and union territory governments have set the ball rolling to help the people in distress and the J&K has already made the first move. Since the day second wave of COVID-19 has gripped Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, has been monitoring the situation personally. He has been seeking feedback from the ground 24x7 and results are evident, entire administration is on toes and no chances are being taken. At present all of us are passing through a difficult phase. People are looking towards the government for help. The LG led administration has not disappointed the masses, it’s trying it’s best to do whatever it can to mitigate the sufferings of the people. The hospitals are being equipped with the things that are necessary to handle the COVID-19 patients. The people running the hospitals should ensure that the facilities that are being made available are utilized and nothing is botched up. When the first wave of COVID had peaked in Jammu region last year the oxygen plants in the major hospitals had turned defunct but this time around situation has been better. There is a little bit of space crunch but rest things are being managed. Mortality rate has increased this time due to positive cases being on the higher side but still people are being treated in the hospitals. Patients with mild and moderate symptoms are surviving. Experts are of the opinion that the prevailing COVID-19 wave will lose its intensity within a month or so. One hopes it happens fast so that everyone can heave a sigh of relief. The losses of the people who have lost their kith and kin cannot be compensated but they can be helped and the LG led administration has already taken a step towards that direction. |
