CLUJ organised online open discussion on Covid 19 -Doctors Speak : Your Questions, Their Answers | | | eaRLY tIMES rEPORT
Jammu, May 16: Department of Dean Students Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu organised an online open discussion on Covid 19 -Doctors Speak :Your Questions, Their Answers by eminent doctors skills for the student and teaching fraternity dedicated to the theme , Azaadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav. The open discussion aimed to bring together key stakeholders to spread awareness among students and teaching fraternity in response to the Covid 19 outbreak and bring greater understanding, helping them to stay informed and healthy thereby answering all related questions with regard to their well-being. About 250 students and teaching faculty from Constituent Colleges, PGI Schools of CLUJ and other colleges participated in the event. Prof. Bechan Lal, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu inaugurated the event and lauded the efforts of the Department for conducting a webinar on a very relevant theme for young learners. He exhorted that in these challenging times the opinions of experts can dispell many misconceptions and create mass awareness on the subject. He added that as a Cluster family we are praying for the survival of human race, for the health and well-being of our fellow Indians and also that we must all be socially distanced but emotionally connected to boost the morale of each other. Dr. Sameer Koul, Head, Surgical Oncology Unit,Apollo Cancer Institute, Delhi and Dr.Vikas Padha, Senior Consultant, Department of Orthopaedics & Joint Replacement, SMVD Narayana Hospital Katra, J&K were the keynote speakers at the discussion . Dr. Sameer koul stressed that youth have the power to create an atmosphere of faith and hope by helping those in distress and clearing misconceptions about the pandemic through social media platforms. He elaborated on various queries put forth by students and teachers like Vaccination, Preventive measures, healthy diet and following doctors advise and testing. Dr. Vikas Padha also dwelt on the need for ramping up medical infrastructure in the state and how young learners could help others recover from the disease. He cleared various misconceptions about prpvaccination,need to consult a doctor.He further reiterated that Rumor and false information on COVID-19 is a major concern in the rural areas, thus the students should help to prevent rumor and support local administration. Dr. Twinkle Suri, Dean Students Welfare CLUJ formally welcomed the participants and exhorted that it was pertinent to have faith in God and follow the 4 Ps - Protection, Prayers, Patience and Positive mindset which are the major pillars to combat this raging pandemic devastating precious human lives. She added that the discussion is an initiative of the university to answer all Covid related doubts and queries so that we are better aware and agile to effectively deal with the disease which is spreading like wild fire. Prof. Bhopinder Singh, Dean Academic Affairs, CLUJ, Registrar, Controller Examinations, Principals of Constituent Colleges , Deans of Faculties, Coordinators , Faculty from colleges and universities,scholars and students, and people from civil society attended the event. |
