SRINAGAR, May 16: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 4,141 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 2, 44,608. With 59 deaths taking place in the past 24 hours the death toll due to the virus reached 3,149. Srinagar district reported 831 fresh cases followed by Jammu district 625 cases, Budgam district 320 cases, Baramulla district 252 cases, Rajouri district 237 cases, Kulgam district 228 cases, Anantnag district 199 cases, Udhampur district 192 cases, Kathua district 186 cases, Pulwama district 177 cases, Ganderbal district 152 cases, Kupwara district 148 cases, Samba district 145 cases, Poonch district 106 cases, Bandipora district 89 cases, Doda district 77 cases, Ramban district 65 cases, Shopian district 55 cases, Kishtwar district 41 cases and Reasi district 16 cases. Srinagar and Jammu districts each reported 16 fresh deaths of COVID-19 followed by Rajouri district six deaths, Kupwara district four deaths, Kathua, Samba and Pulwama districts three deaths each, Baramulla and Budgam districts two deaths each and Udhampur, Doda, Poonch & Anantnag districts one death each. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 4,141 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 1,690 from Jammu division and 2,451 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2, 44,608. Also 59 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 31 from Jammu division and 28 from Kashmir division. Moreover, 3,934 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 1,185 from Jammu division and 2,749 from Kashmir division. Out of 2, 44,608 positive cases, 51,623 are active positive, 1, 89,836 have recovered and 3,149 have died; 1,439 in Jammu division and 1,710 in Kashmir division. Out of 79, 21,228 test results available, 76, 76,620 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 19, 65,811 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 74,816 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 51,623 in isolation and 1, 19,230 in home surveillance. Besides, 17, 16,993 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 58,030 positive cases, 8,425 active positive, 48,923 recovered, 682 deaths; Baramulla has 18,038 positive cases, 3,440 active positive, 14,376 recovered, 222 deaths; Budgam has 16,022 positive cases, 3,994 active positive, 11,876 recovered, 152 deaths; Anantnag has 11,547 positive cases, 4,076 active positive, 7,335 recovered, 136 deaths; Pulwama has 10,742 positive cases, 2,642 active positive, 7,962 recovered, 138 deaths. “Kupwara has 9,372 positive cases, 1,813 active positive, 7,439 recovered, 120 deaths; Kulgam has 7,760 positive cases, 3,435 active positive, 4,245 recovered, 80 deaths; Ganderbal has 6,968 positive cases, 1,136 active positive, 5,770 recovered, 62 deaths; Bandipora has 6,953 positive cases, 897 active positive, 5,982 recovered, 74 deaths and Shopian has 4,481 positive cases, 1,331 active positive, 3,106 recovered, 44 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 44,222 positive cases, 7,915 active positive, 35,489 recovered, 818 deaths; Udhampur has 8,842 positive cases, 1,561active positive, 70,187 recovered, 94 deaths; Rajouri has 8,076 positive cases, 3,417 active positive, 4,533 recovered, 126 deaths; Kathua has 7,290 positive cases, 1,508 active positive, 5,687 recovered, 95 deaths; Samba has 5,647 positive cases, 2,038 active positive, 3,526 recovered, 83 deaths. “Doda has 4,682 positive cases, 872 active positive, 3,736 recovered, 74 deaths; Reasi has 4,487 positive cases, 706 active positive, 3,759 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 4,227 positive cases, 1,241 active positive, 2,926 recovered, 60 deaths; Ramban has 3,686 positive cases, 794 active positive, 2,851 recovered, 41 deaths and Kishtwar has 3,536 positive cases, 382 active positive, 3,128 recovered, 26 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 2, 44,608 positive cases, 20,925 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meter from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
