Act Responsibly
5/26/2021 11:11:05 PM

The ongoing lockdown has helped in decreasing the number of COVID-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir but mortality rate continues to remain high.
Since the pandemic has hit the country experts and doctors have been reiterating that if we have to keep the virus at bay we will have to follow the SOPs in letter and spirit.
People need to pay heed towards the appeals. The second wave of COVID-19 has proven it beyond doubt that the virus is present everywhere and it can infect anyone. We will have to follow the SOPs till we develop herd immunity and become strong enough to fight it. Getting vaccinated, avoiding social gatherings and wearing masks hold the key. This is not time to shy away from vaccinations. Staying away from each other is mandatory to keep ourselves safe. Wearing masks has become a necessity. These are important things that we need to put in our heads. Big gatherings can wait till we defeat the virus.
The government is trying its best to ensure that the virus doesn’t get replicated and imposing a lockdown is a part of that strategy. New hospitals are being set up for the positive patients and all the facilities are being put in place to ensure that people don’t suffer. We can’t just rely on the government to keep us safe. We have to act responsibly. People have to ensure that they follow appropriate COVID-19 behavior and understand that precaution is better than cure.
At present hospitals are full and thousands of people are in isolation within their homes. Situation is grim but things will change and the virus will lose its sting. Experts have warned about the possible third wave of COVID-19 hitting the country. Before the pestilence raises its ugly head again we need to be prepared to tackle it.
The second wave has taught us that the people who had taken the COVID-19 jabs even after getting infected were able to fight the virus in a better way. Most of them didn’t develop serious complications. The vaccines are effective and this fact has been proven beyond doubt.
At present the vaccination drive in Jammu and Kashmir is going on at full swing, people who have not got these jabs need to come forward and take a refuge in this protection that has helped millions of people across the globe. Let’s act responsibly and help ourselves to remain safe.
