SRINAGAR, May 26: As the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 3,037 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 2, 78,859; the death toll reached 3,702 with 40 deaths taking place in the past 24 hours or so. Srinagar district reported 493 cases followed by Jammu district 445 cases, Baramulla district 260 cases, Ganderbal district 219 cases, Anantnag district 212 cases, Budgam district 197 cases, Kupwara district 153 cases, Pulwama district 145 cases, Rajouri district 126 cases, Kulgam district 117 cases, Ramban district 99 cases, Doda district 91 cases, Bandipora district 89 cases, Udhampur district 83 cases, Kathua district 82 cases, Poonch district 66 cases, Shopian district 63 cases, Samba district 46 cases, Kishtwar district 35 cases and Reasi district 16 cases. Jammu district reported nine fresh deaths followed by Srinagar district six cases, Baramulla and Pulwama districts four deaths each, Anantnag, Kupwara and Kathua districts three deaths each, Doda district two deaths, Ganderbal, Udhampur, Rajouri, Samba, Kishtwar and Reasi districts one death each. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 3,037 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 1,089 from Jammu division and 1,948 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2, 78,859. Also 40 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 19 from Jammu division and 21 from Kashmir division. Moreover, 4,023 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 1,770 from Jammu division and 2,253 from Kashmir division. Out of 2, 78,859 positive cases, 43,892 are active positive, 2, 31,265 have recovered and 3,702 have died; 1,784 in Jammu division and 1,918 in Kashmir division. Out of 83, 59,251 test results available, 80, 80,392 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 20, 50,607 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 75,604 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 43,892 in isolation and 1, 42,448 in home surveillance. Besides, 17, 84,961 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 63,448 positive cases, 5,895 active positive, 56,802 recovered, 751 deaths; Baramulla has 20,435 positive cases, 2,936 active positive, 17,251 recovered, 248 deaths; Budgam has 19,358 positive cases, 3,686 active positive, 15,503 recovered, 169 deaths; Anantnag has 13,715 positive cases, 4,011 active positive, 9,548 recovered, 156 deaths; Pulwama has 12,322 positive cases, 2,225 active positive, 9,936 recovered, 161 deaths. “Kupwara has 11,131 positive cases, 1,833 active positive, 9,160 recovered, 138 deaths; Kulgam has 9,385 positive cases, 2,175 active positive, 7,120 recovered, 90 deaths; Bandipora has 8,131 positive cases, 958 active positive, 7,089 recovered, 84 deaths; Ganderbal has 8,192 positive cases, 1,280 active positive, 6,845 recovered, 67 deaths and Shopian has 5,130 positive cases, 1,169 active positive, 3,907 recovered, 54 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 49,011 positive cases, 6,929 active positive, 41,079 recovered, 1,003 deaths; Udhampur has 10,303 positive cases, 1,110 active positive, 9,077 recovered, 116 deaths; Rajouri has 9,284 positive cases, 2,711 active positive, 6,410 recovered, 163 deaths; Kathua has 8,534 positive cases, 964 active positive, 7,447 recovered, 123 deaths; Samba has 6,571 positive cases, 2,095 active positive, 4,373 recovered, 103 deaths. “Doda has 5,346 positive cases, 1,133 active positive, 4,127 recovered, 86 deaths; Reasi has 5,023 positive cases, 533 active positive, 4,455 recovered, 35 deaths; Poonch has 4,900 positive cases, 888 active positive, 3,936 recovered, 76 deaths; Ramban has 4,765 positive cases, 986 active positive, 3,731 recovered, 48 deaths and Kishtwar has 3,875 positive cases, 375 active positive, 3,469 recovered, 31 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 2, 78,859 positive cases in J&K, 21,420 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
