Dogra Sahayata Kendra to provide ambulance services
Demands inquiry into administrative lapses in dealing with Pandemic

Jammu, May 26: The Dogra Sahayata Kendra, Jammu will provide ambulance services for patients besides adopting other measures to help in the fight against the pandemic.
Disclosing this in a press statement issued today, Gulchain Singh Charak, President Dogra Sadar Sabha and Chairman of Dogra Sahayata Kendra, said that arrangements had been made to commence the ambulance service within the next one or two days.
He said that the service will be available from 8 am to 8 pm on all days of the week and besides remaining on call for the health authorities, can also be availed by residents of Jammu city for carrying patients within the municipal limits, by contacting the Dogra Sahayata Kendra.
Charak said that a number of other measures were also decided to be taken during an online meeting of the Coordination Committee of Dogra Sahayata Kendra, comprising of prominent citizens, representatives of NGO’s, and professionals from various fields.
These included efforts to spread awareness about the guidelines for safety to be followed by inhabitants for prevention from getting infected, besides distribution of safety kits comprising masks, sanitizers, safety instructions as per guidelines, etc. for keeping themselves safe. He said that the District units of Dogra Sadar Sabha will also assist the Dogra Sahayata Kendra to spread awareness amongst the vulnerable populations in rural areas, and to help them avail the Government initiatives in preventing the spread of the disease, and for treatment of infected persons.
He further disclosed that the Dogra Sahayata Kendra was also working closely with the health authorities in ameliorating the unprecedented difficulties being faced by the patients, their attendants and the health staff in respect of providing transportation, food and water where required. The Kendra has also offered accommodation for setting up a 100 bedded covid care centre at Bari Brahmana and for setting up a vaccination centre in Gandhi Nagar.
Expressing concern over the continued high mortality rate in Jammu Division, Charak said that despite reduction of the number of new cases the number of daily deaths due to the pandemic was showing no signs of abating. He pointed out that, had the doctors and paramedical staff now shifted from relatively redundant positions to the upcoming 500 DRDO hospital been posted for covid duties in Government Medical College and other covid hospitals in Jammu, at the very initial stage of the second wave, many valuable lives could have been saved.
