6/15/2021 11:50:12 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 15: Farmers can double their income by turning towards precision horticulture practices using modern technology as a tool to get high yield. This was stated by the DDC Chairman Jammu, Bharat Bhushan during an awareness camp organized by the Horticulture Department here at Mishriwalla.
The DDC Chairman urged the progressive orchardists present in the camp to act as the ambassadors of the horticulture department and spread the message among the farmers, who never dared to leave the age old practice of harvesting wheat and rice crops, to try hand on growing local fruits as the same have potential to raise their income considerably.
The DDC Chairman said that such camps were held to realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of doubling the income of farmers before 2022. He said that numerous schemes have been introduced to benefit those farmers who intend to grow fruits such as litchi, mango, strawberry, guava, Kinnu and Amla, and this camp aims at disseminating the information among the farmers to educate them about the latest technology available with the department which can contribute to ensure high yield and good income.
Bharat Bhushan said that good liaising with the concerned department can be of great help for the farmers as the department officials are keen to help them on each stage of fruit plantation.
He said that the horticulture sector provides an excellent opportunity in raising the income of the farmers throughout the year therefore shifting towards this sector is not at all a bad idea as this can prove to be a game changer.
The DDC Chairman also felicitated Horticulture Department’s gardener Kewal Kumar for his extraordinary zeal and zest towards the department and for rendering exceptional services.
Later, the DDC Chairman also visited the orchard at Gadhi Pandoria Mishriwalla.
Chief Horticulture Officer Sarabjeet Singh, Subject Matter Specialists Sanjeev Karlupia and Sandeep Gupta, District Horticulture Officer Vijay Angurana and Horticulture Development Officer Sandeep Sharma besides Sarpanch Lower Amb, Jaswant Singh and Sarpanch Kalyanpur were also present.
