Kishtwar, June 15: The inhabitants of village Gumri in remote Warwan area of Marwah Sub Division in Kishtwar District are toiling hard to fetch water for themselves despite having abundance water resources in the area. As per the details available with Early Times, Gumri village of Warwan is based on 110 families with no proper water supply in the village and most of the people are dependent on three PHE public stand in service for the people in the entire village. The people told Early Times that they have to travel several kilometres to fetch water for themselves adding that the public stands available in the village are not sufficient for the village since the water flow in these public stands is also negligible and people had to wait for hours to fill the 10 litre of bucket. “The department of PHE fail to come up to the expectations of the people— they fail to provide drinking water to the inhabitants of the Gumri village even though the main water source is at a stone throw distance of 3/4 KM” said Tahir Lone. Tahir said that they also met former Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar who was gracious enough to issue directions to Executive Engineer PHE Division Kishtwar who in terms directed the concern engineer for ensuring water supply to the Gumri village. “It was JE who was at fault— the concern JE not disappointed them— but also misplaced the application forwarded to the department by DC Kishtwar” said Lone. “We urge DC Kishtwar to look into the matter and save the villagers from further suffering by arranging pipes so that people can get respite from the problem of drinking water” maintain Lone. |
