Early Times Report
Jammu, June 15: Amidst COVID-19 pandemic, Traffic Police have launched a crackdown against violators. Traffic policemen have become active by laying down nakkas at various points across Jammu city and are seen imposing heavy fines. Many videos have gone viral on social media of the action of Traffic Police, where a lady DySP is seen imposing heavy fines against violators. Heavy fines are being imposed on two wheeler riders for a pillion rider not wearing a helmet. “Before launching the drive a warning should have been sounded that pillion riders who won’t wear helmets will be fined,” said Rakesh Kumar. “A sudden crackdown has ruffled the people who are facing a lot of hardships due to COVID-19.” “Departments that directly deal with the public should cooperate with the masses in these testing times rather than going after them,” he added. When Early Times contacted SSP Traffic, he said that he has spoken to the DySP in this connection and has asked not to go hard in this pandemic. |
