Jammu, June 15: General Category Peoples’ Front – Jammu Kashmir held its meeting under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia, the Chairman of the Front and held deliberations with its core committee members over the present socio-economic and political spheres.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Yash Paul Sanson, President of the Front said the strengthening Health infrastructure in short time amid the Covid-19 pandemic is a laudable achievement of the Modi Government. Work done on ground and the measures taken by the Health Ministry had successfully mitigated the impact of 2nd Covid-19 wave.
He hailed Indian scientists for developing made in India Vaccine against Covid-19 in a year. The effective management of central government has checked the pandemic – the biggest challenge of the country. He condemned political parties playing politics over pandemic and criticizing government policies for the sake of criticism, offering no suggestions.
Som Nath Sharma, Gen. Secretary said that the people are facing economic hardships because of the recession in the country mainly due to wrong economic and social policies and running the government like a Corporate House is one of them. He demanded some government schemes to ameliorate the socio-economic stakes of the people.
A surge in inflation has badly affected the household budget of a middle class family. Employees and pensioners have been the worst sufferers as their DA installments have been freezed. He appealed the government to defreeze the DA installments and enhance the medical allowance of JKUT pensioners and employees which is Rs. 300/- per month for the last twenty years. V.K. Sharma Vice President expressed deep concerns over the steep price-rise of essential commodities.
The unprecedented price-rise has shattered the budget of a common man’s household, inflation rate had peaked all time high and broken all records and central government is not uttering a word over roaring prices. He appealed the government to redress the issues confronting the people, pensioners, employees, farmers, labourers, traders and unemployed educated youth. Government should show guts and will-power to solve the issues confronting the people. He warned the government for taking people for granted. He urged upon the administration to ensure uninterrupted supply of water and electricity to the people who are paying heavy charges and taxes to the government. Government should reduce taxes and service taxes by cutting down electricity and water bills. The students be provided free ‘Tabs’ for online study. Dr. Bansi Lal, Jadish Dogra, Bhushan Pargal, Surinder Kumar, Ravi Sahni, Gopal Dass Verma also expressed their views in the meeting.
