AAP holds protest against erratic water, power supply | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 5: The Aam Aadmi Party, Jammu, held a peaceful protest against Irrigation & PDD at Shambu Chak, Bishnah. The AAP leaders expressed great resentment for acute, shortage of water in Ranbir canal at its ends, erratic & irregular power cuts have further compounded the miseries of farmers by interrupting working of water pumps. They said that un-scheduled long power cuts in Bishnah area, leading to non-running of water pumps of the farmers have aggravated hardships of farmers coupled with dry Ranbir Canal channels. The AAP, Jammu leaders have urged upon the Divisional Commissioner Jammu and other concerned authorities to look into the matter compassionately and personally to mitigate the sufferings of farmers. They said the present dispensation in J&K, instead of meeting the requirement of local population is providing around 80% of power to the Northern Grid for distribution among northern states out of around 2250 Mega watts of electricity through Salal, Baghliar & Dul-Hasti Mega power projects of Jammu region showing utter bankruptcy of sensitiveness, sincererity and judicial wisdom the release said.
