Concern over plight of Tourism fraternity raised | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 5: In the meeting of office bearers of All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association held through video conferencing, the Chairman, Inderjeet Khajuria expressed serious concern over the plight of Tourism fraternity whose business has been badly hit by COVID pandemic and lockdowns and getting no respite even after unlockings. They are passing through a worst phase of life as it has become difficult for them to earn even dry 'dal roti' for their families and thus compelled to sell their jewellery for feeding them in this hour of crisis. Pawan Gupta, President of the association hailed the government step of opening of restaurants, bars, indoor sports complexes with 50% capacity with some conditions in 13 districts of J&K UT, only for the customers who are vaccinated or are carrying a negative RT-PCR or RAT report 48 hours prior. This relaxation of government would definitely give some relief to the starving hoteliers. The association appeals to the government to revisit their earlier order of cancellation of Shri Amarnath yatra and arrange to conduct Yatra with a minimum number of yatries for a limited number of days by applying the same yardstick of permitting only those pilgrims who are vaccinated or possessing negative test reports. At a time when Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji Yatra is in progress and all other Temples and religious places open , why the government is depriving Shri Amarnath devotees from having darshan of Baba Barfani this year too. The association once again appealed to the government to reconsider their earlier decision of cancellation of Shri Amarnath Yatra and opening of yatra this year even for a short period would bring jubilation in the camp of stakeholders of Tourism of J&K UT as BHOLE BABA will shower blessings on devotees as well as on distressed stakeholders.
