Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 5: Jammu People's Party has requested Retd. Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prakash Desai, head of the Delimitation Commission appointed for J&K that assembly seats was governed by Jammu and Kashmir constitution and specifically Jammu and Kashmir Representation of the Peoples Act, 1957. Farooq Abdullah government in order to rule the state for life chose to freeze delimitation until 2026 a great injustice with Jammu people which have less assembly seats 37 as compared to 46 for Kashmir. That gave preference to a chief minister always from Kashmir. Unfortunately the leaders from Jammu also agreed to this political loot for sharing political crumbs. We will not go in to various demands by various representatives from the Jammu and Kashmir region, we want you to apply a simple mathematic ratio and ensure number of seats to both the regions after completing the Delimitation Process. The reasons we place here is the area of Jammu is 26293 sqmtr. while that of Kashmir is 15948 sqmtr. In Jammu the number of Voters is 31,74,417 while there are 32,60,668 Voters in Kashmir. If we go by the ratio of area plus votes out of proposed 90 seats Jammu should get 48 seats and Kashmir 42 seats.
