Rohit Bhat showcased by Natrang in National Theatre Talk Show | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 8: Dedicated theatre actor, director from J&K UT, Rohit Bhat featured today in 'Young Voices of Theatre' which is a distinctive National Theatre Talk Show by Natrang where he shared his inspirational thoughts. The show, which is featured at the Facebook page of Natrang Jammu daily, showcases outstanding young theatre practitioners of India, who share their inspirational views with the global audience. Director Natrang, Balwant Thakur informed that this unique endeavour of Natrang has become an important theatre happening of the country because of its content and valuable views of the guest speakers. Rohit Bhat is an enthusiastic theatre director from Jammu and Kashmir UT and his work is appreciated by the masses and theatre fraternity as well. Rohit has directed plays in Kashmiri and Hindi languages across genres, from historical to comedy and his strength lies in the way he balances the narrative and leaves the audience with a space for thought. Rohit has devoted his time and energy in revitalizing the dying art of Kashmiri and Kashmir related theatre. He is founder of theatre group Vomedh which has become a household name for Kashmiri Community. He has been successful in engaging the youth on both sides; as part of the theatre group and as audience as well. Another noteworthy accomplishment of Rohit was the staging of his Kashmiri play Gadd Bateh in Tagore Hall Srinagar. It was after a gap of 27 years that a Kashmiri Pandit group performed a play based around of Kashmiri Pandit festival in Srinagar to the jam packed Tagore Hall. It brought the two communities together in a unique way. Festival director of Jammu International Film Festival, Rohit has to his credit a number of plays including; 'Daye Sanz Dayegath', 'Shrishti Maa', 'Brashtachar', 'Aao Kuch Kar Dikhaye', 'Mazhab Nahi Sikhata', 'Mujrim Main Nahi Par Main Hi Hu', 'Khoya Bachpan', 'Ek Aur Birbal', 'Ateet Ke Sakshi', 'Mar Kar Jeena', and 'Gaad Bateh(The Fish Meal) etc. In an engaging conversation with Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee actor and Nartang's senior artist Anil Tickoo, Rohit shared his journey of theatre, He recalled his experience when he joined theatre through a workshop when he was in college and he got enthused to pursue theatre. Having left lucrative projects in Mumbai to pursue theatre in J&K, Rohit asserts that "Once you have performed on stage, nothing else would fascinate you". He expressed his gratitude towards his brother Rakesh Roshan Bhat who has always been his great support in doing theatre. Speaking about his preference of style, he said that he has worked in different genres but all of his works carry social issues, which is his prime motive. Emphasizing on the importance of hard work, patience and practice, Rohit shared that whatever he has learnt, that is because of these virtues and also suggests others to implement the same as there are no shortcuts in theatre. With the aim to make people aware about their history and culture, his theatre group Vomedh has done tremendous work for the society in general and Kashmiri community in particular and have initiated many innovative initiatives like 'Terrace Theatre', 'International Film Festival' etc. Rohit believes in giving opportunities to new people as they have immense zeal but also expects commitment and patience from them. Speaking about the Corona crisis he asserts that the time is tough but still we shall keep the optimism intact. |
