In 24 hours, Security Forces kill 5 militants in Kashmir 178 militants killed so far this year | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 8: In a major success, the security forces on Thursday killed five militants in separate overnight gunfights in Pulwama and Kulgam districts of South Kashmir. Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar told media that four militants were killed in the last twelve hours in separate encounters from South Kashmir. Divulging the details IGP said that two militants were killed in Brief shootout at Kulgam, whereas two more militants were killed in Pulwama Gunfight. Overall five militants have been killed in the last 24 hours in Valley including a longest surviving Hizb militant from North Kashmir, IGP added. “Op Zodar, #Kulgam At about 0300h, a white Maruti car approached the Mobile check post, but attempted to flee on seeing the post. On being challenged, 02 individuals jumped out, fired & ran towards the adjoining forested area. Area cordoned. Firefight ensued. Ops in progress,” tweeted Army Spokesman. Army also said that a joint operation was launched based on specific inputs in the Pochal area of Pulwama. “02 terrorists eliminated. 01 AK and 01 Pistol recovered from them,” Army wrote on Twitter. Meanwhile, the official twitter handler of Kashmir Police Zone wrote, “ 5 militants killed in 24 hours in Kashmir. Congratulations to Police & Security Forces for conducting ops without collateral damage: IGP Kashmir,” reads the tweet.” According to South Asian Terrorism Portal, security forces have successfully eliminated 178 terrorists this year in Kashmir |
