Delimitation Commission meets various political parties, social activists at Kishtwar

Kishtwar, July 8: Several political parties including Congress, BJP, Apni Party, Panthers Party along with social and political activists from various areas of Doda, Kishtwar & Ramban districts today met Delimitation Commission head by Retired Supreme Court Judge Ranjana Prakash Desai along with Election Commission of India Sunil Chandra at Dak Banglow Guest House Kishtwar and put forth their various suggestions before the commission with regard delimitation of assembly constituencies in the area.
As per the details available with “Early Times”, the Delimitation Commission began the meeting at Kishtwar at 11.30 Am that lasted till 2 PM in which 38 delegations from erstwhile Doda comprises more than 250 individuals got an opportunity to meet the visiting Delimitation Commission while PDP boycotted the visit of the commission.
Speaking to Early Times, BJP State General Secretary Sunil Kumar Sharma said that the party demanded that census 2011 should not be made criteria for drawing the assembly constituencies adding that 2011 census is totally fraud and biased. Sharma said that as a special case, the commission must move outside district jurisdiction for redrawing the assembly constituencies and suggested the commission to take water channel as a criteria into consideration for setting the boundaries of new assembly constituencies.
Congress Vice President Ghul;am Mohammad Saroori said the Congress delegation elaborated facts before the commission and said that the party will oppose any move with regard to redrawing the assembly constituencies on the basis of demography and religious basis and said that assembly constituencies in erstwhile Doda district are spread over 3000/4000 Sq Kilometers. They demanded that Commission should consider the demand of creation of at least one seat each in Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban Districts in addition to the existing assembly constituencies as special cases.
Earlier the security was tightened in and around the venue and the traffic leading to the venue was diverted by the police. Senior Police officials including DIG DKR Ranage Udhay Basker Billa, SSP Kishtwar Shafqat Husain Butt and other senior police officials remain present on ground to monitor the security arrangements.
Before leaving Kishtwar, Delimitation Commission team also meet DC Ramban Musarat ul Islam, DC Kishtwar Ashok Kumar Sharma & DC Doda Vikas Sharma and held a detailed meeting with them besides seeks their suggestions about the area and its difficult terrains.
